Presses
The most common press type is the mechanical press which uses a rotating crank shaft to move ram, whereas hydraulic cylinders are used in hydraulic presses. The nature of drive system determines the tonnage and stroke of the press. The advantage of the hydraulic press is that they can deliver full tonnage at any point in their stroke. Mechanical presses only generate full tonnage at the bottom of their stroke. Two key advantages of mechanical presses is that they can be operated at higher strokes per minute and have excellent repeatability.
